One week of holiday = 2 kits finished ;-) (Humber & Chaffee) Revell, 1:76

I was at the northern sea last week. One week with the family, nice weather (cold, stormy but sunny - as it has to be :-), nice landscape and a lot of fun. Very relaxing. But in the evenings I got time to build a few kits. I built my last tank over one 1 ago, so I started with two old Matchbox (now Revell) kits I still had in my stock, just to get back into buisness.

I also started a Opel Blitz by Roden and a Mathilda from Esci. But these are still in progress. I will report as soon as possible.

Cromwell, Armourfast, 1:72, Almost finished

I was quite busy last night by painting more G.I.`s for a customer. But I also found the time to wash this Cromwell. Then I drybrushed the kit with the basic colour (Vallejo "Russian Uniform"). The wash was still wet when I took these pictures. A last drybrush with light grey will follow. By the way, the decals are from Peddinghaus.

The Cromwell is painted now. I used again Vallejo`s "Russian Uniform", an advice by Wiking for painting British vehicles. Thanks, Wiking!Now the work is stopped because I´m waiting for the decals I ordered yesterday. I also ordered some storage stuff to put it on the tank.

Der Cromwell ist lackiert. Ich habe wieder Vallejo´s "Russian Uniform" benutzt, wie bei allen meinen britischen Fahrzeugen. Der Tip für die Farbwahl kam von Wiking, besten Dank nochmal an Dich dafür! Jetzt geht es erst mal nicht weiter, weil ich auf die Decals warte, die ich bestellt habe. Ich habe auch noch einiges an Ausrüstung geordert, die noch auf den Panzer soll.

The Armourfast Cromwell seems to be "en vogue" if you look at the blogs of Thanos and WIking. I´m catching the wave and show you my progress with this kit. The building is finished and a first layer of Tamiya Olive Drab 2 in sprayed. I painted the tracks and the road wheels. Now the "real" colour will follow.

Der Cromwell von Armourfast erfreut sich gerade wohl großer Beliebtheit, wenn man sich die Blogs von Thanos und Wiking so ansieht. Dann bin ich ja am Puls der Zeit mit meinem. Der Bau ist beendet und ich habe ihn mit Tamiya "Olive Drab 2" eingesprüht. Die Ketten und Laufräder wurden lackiert, jetzt folgt die eigentliche Farbgebung.

Valentine, Esci, 1:72

Here some pictures of my Valentine. I tried to repair it because it was destroyed by falling of a table a few month ago. Now I painted it (except the Trck/Wheel section, this will follow tonight). All is fixed except a little gap in the backside.

Heute ein paar Bilder meines Valentine. Ich versuche, Ihn zu reparieren, da er beim Sturz von einem Tisch beschädigt wurde. Hat auch geklappt bis auf ein kleines Loch in der Rückseite. Ich habe Ihn dann noch einmal lackiert, bis auf die Kettensektion, die kommt heute dran.

O.K. Interesting that I can write this text after reading your comments. Thanks for that :-) I like this kit, easy to assemble, but one part isn`t mentioned in the plan, so I have to ask my friends in the Behind Omaha Foirum for help. But it isn`a snap kit but the parts have to be glued. In my opinion the best Armourfast Kit I have so far. I still have to decide to build it with open or closed hatches. Depends on the Figures I have in my stocks.

Sherman, Revell, 1:76

At the weekend I finished this british Sherman Firefly. A liitle bit too tidy, perhabs he gets some dirt.




Am Wochenende habe ich diesen Sherman Firefly fertig gemacht. Etwas sauber, vielleich muss ich ihn noch ein wenig verschmutzen.

Comet, Revell, 1:76

I repaired the Comet and continued the painting. Nearly finished now.




Ich habe den Comet repariert und weiter lackiert. Fast fertig!

Der Fall des britischen Empire...

Let me tell you about a little catastrophy happended yesterday: I washed the tanks and took them outside for drying. A strong wind blowed them from the table. Gun barrels were broken and the painting was destroyd. Also a building was broken. What a mess.... In the evening I tried to fix it all. Seemed to work, but a lot of time was spend for nothing.

Gestern sind mir beim trocknen durch eine Windböe meine britischen Panzer und ein Haus vom Gartentisch geweht. Was für ein Mist. Seht selbst...
Gestern abend konnte ich das meiste reparieren, aber es hat Zeit gekostet, die ich besser anders verbracht hätte.

Britische Panzer, update

Yesterday I only added some grass to my board. Nothing worth to show here. But I continued working on my british tanks. I painted the Shermann and the Comet and then for the first time I used some ceaning agent to coat the sherman. After that, the first decals were positioned and I used also for the first time softener. Today, the rest of the decals will follow. On Thursday will be "washing day". As I use deluted oil colours for the bigger things I wait until I´ve got enough to work on. Then my houses will got their "wash", too.

Gestern habe ich nur weiteres Gras auf meine Normandieplatte gebracht. Es lohnt sich nicht, das heute zu zeigen. Aber ich habe mit meinen britischen Panzern weiter gemacht. Der Sherman und der Comet wurden weiter lackiert. Beim Sherman habe ich erstmals Bodenglänzer genutzt und die ersten Decals aufgebracht, zum ersten mal unter Verwendung von Weichmachern. Heute kommt der Rest der Decals. Und am Donnerstag ist "Waschtag". Neben den drei Panzern kommen dann auch meine Häuser dran.

Urlaubsbilder - Update: Sherman, Comet, 1:76, Revell

Here are two of my "holiday companions". A Comet and a Sherman Firefly, both Revell 1:76. Easy to build, no question. The upper hulls aren`t glued and some details are still missing. I started painting them. The undercarriages are finished, the rest will follow.




Hier sind zwei weitere meiner "Urlaubsbegleiter". Ein Comt und ein Sherman Firefly, beide von Revell in 1:76. Einfach zu bauen, keine Frage. Die Wannenober- und Unterseiten sind noch nicht verklebt. Mit der Lackierung habe ich begonnen, die Fahrwerke sind weitgehend fertig, der Rest folgt.

Valentine, Esci, 1:72

I´m still working on the Valentine. After priming with Tamiya olive drab 2 I painted all with Vallejo “Russian Uniform” and started painting the tracks, wheels and so on. To be continued…..



Ich arbeite zur Zeit am Valentine. Nach einer Grundierung mit Tamiya Olive Drab 2 habe ich alles mit Vallejo „Russian Uniform“ lackiert und begonnen, die Ketten, Räder und Details zu bemalen. Wird fortgesetzt….

Britische Streitkräfte, Caesar, Airfix, Revell 1:72, 1:76

My British Forces for the Behind Omaha Game increase. Here you see a Bren Carrier from Airfix, the Revell/Matchbox Stuart and my new light infantry unit from Caesar. The figure in the back will be reworked as a medic and I still need a radio operator. The bases aren`t finished but this will change soon.



Meine Behind Omaha Streitmacht wächst. Hier die britischen Streitkräfte mit einem Bren Carrier (Airfix), dem Stuart (Revell/Matchbox) und der neuen, leichen Infantrieeinheit von Caesar. Die Figur hinten wird noch zum Sani umgebaut und es fehlt noch ein Funker. Und natürlich die Bases, die als nächstes drankommen.

Stuart, Matchbox, 1:76

The Stuart is almost finished. Last week it got a wash with diluted oil colours, the decals and a drybrush. Now some last corrections and a layer of matt varnish will follow. The tank is for my B.O. Forces.




Der Stuart ist fast fertig. Letzte Woche hat er ein "wash" mit verdünnter Ölfarbe erhalten, die Decals (ja, ich weiß, die Einheitsabzeichen passen nicht zum Panzer, ich hatte aber keine anderen mehr) sind drauf und gestern habe ich die Kanten trocken gemalt. Nun fehlen ein paar Korrekturen und der Mattlack.
